Tuface, Sound Sultan, others named ambassadors for War Against Famine in Africa

Pop acts 2face Idibia, Sound Sultan and R&B singer Lami have joined the league of other African an international artistes in the war against Famine in Africa, with their announcement as ambassadors of international organization Oxfam.

We’ve just been told the new ambassadors have already recorded a theme song for the project, to be premiered on Thursday March 29, 2012.

The acts are also to be involved in a series of public events, involving African leaders, the media and the general public as they work to create awareness on the importance of addressing Africa’s food security crisis.

The campaign is tagged GROW and will be carried out under Voice For Food security (VFS), a platform of 15 Nigerian civil society organizations (CSO) and small scale farmers association in the country.

According to statistics, this year has experienced the world’s worst food crisis in many years, with over 13 million people in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia needing urgent attention.

At the moment, over 13 million people in the Sahel region are faced with serious food crisis that threaten their lives and livelihood.

Oxfam’s (founded in Oxford, UK back in 1942) major purpose is to find lasting solutions to poverty and ‘related injustice’ around the world.
