South African Dance Troupe “Umoja” takes Center Stage in Lagos 29th April 2012

Lagos, Nigeria get ready to experience the best of art through dance as one of Nigeria’s foremost financial institutions – First Bank of Nigeria Plc will be bring live on stage Internationally acclaimed South African based dance troupe – Umoja.
This colourful performance taking place this Sunday at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria  Island, Lagos is aimed at celebrating heritage and performing arts and ultimately restoring the culture of theatre, arts and stage performance in Nigeria.

Ice Prince Wins African Artiste of the Year at the VGMA’s

Chocolate City rapper, Panshak Zamani ' Ice Prince, last weekend beat off stiff competition to emerge African Act of the Year at the 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The ‘Superstar’ rapper beat Wizkid, pop star D’banj, rapper Naeto C, Duncan Mighty and Congolese act Cabo Snoop to clinch the award. He was presented with the award at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Center after having performed for the cream of entertainers and fans with his fellow ‘Choc Boiz’ MI and Brymo. Ice also performed at the event last year. Having a good outing with his Choc Boiz fam, the rapper admitted this year’s performance was an opportunity for him to make up for his woeful 2011 performance.

Apart from Cabo Snoop, he was the only Best African Act nominee in attendance, and obviously, the only Nigerian. And sources say his win was as a result of his popularity in Ghana, thanks to his smash hits ‘Superstar’ and ‘Oleku’ which features labelmate Brymo.

‘It’s surprising, the people love Ice Prince. I think the only person they love that way right now is Flavour. It’s so amazing’ a Nigerian guest told us shortly after the show. The win now places the young rapper in a great position to further grow his profile across the continent, following in the footsteps of the likes of Psquare, 2face Idibia, Bracket, Flavour and D’banj who are bonafide bestsellers in nearly every part of the continent.

Lil Wayne Announces Release of Love Songs He Wrote in prison

 Lil Wayne's next project will be full of his version of love songs, all of which were written in prison.

Weezy spoke to MTV and revealed that his follow-up to last year's double-platinum Tha Carter IV album will be titled Devol.

Yup, that's 'loved' spelled backwards, but he pronounced it 'devil', which gives us an insight into an album full of what he described as 'my version of love songs.'

'What I mean by my version of love songs is meaning they're not saying, 'I love you', they're saying.' and he trails off chuckling.

The songs were written during his stint at Rikers Island in 2010. 'It's all material I did when I was locked up,' he said.

There's no word on a release date, but Lil Wayne has mentioned that he'll release a sequel to the excellent I Am Not A Human Being mixtape in the middle of this year.
