Nas Donating Money From U.K. Show To Amy Winehouse Foundation

Rapper Nas is donating a portion of the proceeds from his upcoming U.K. gig to a charity foundation set up to honor his friend Amy Winehouse.

The pair developed a close relationship after meeting through their mutual friend, music producer Salaam Remi, and they teamed up to record together before the "Back to Black" singer's death last year.

Now Nas is boosting his pal's lasting legacy by giving $1.60 from every ticket sold for his march gig at London's 02 Arena to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The late soul star's father Mitch tells Britain's The Sun, "Nas has announced that £1 from every ticket sold for his London concert taking place at the 02 on March 19, 2013 will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

"Amy and Nas had a special relationship ... The donation of £1 per ticket will help us continue our support of disadvantaged young people, and we at the Foundation very much appreciate this magnificent gesture."

The 2012 edition of Nigeria's biggest entertainment Award The Headies took place on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the expo hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites and was cohosted by singer Omawumi and rapper M.I., who thrilled the audience with their little song tittled 'The Headies'.

The event started three hours later than the schedule 9pm, which was as a result of some itch by the orgarnisers. The high point of the event was when fast rising lyricist, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, popularly known as Vector the Viper was announced as winner of two awards, Best Rap Single and Lyricist on the Role.

Omawumi, placed a bet of N500,000 at the event that she was not going to speak pidgin English as the Úrhobo Mama is known for her blend of English and Pidgin in her music.

The winner of the 2010 MTN Project Fame, Chidima opened the show thrilling the audience with her latest song“Kadike”

Psquare return to the Headies’ honours list after a two-year break and with their ‘Invasion’ album the pop twin won two awards – in the ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best R&B-Pop Album’ categories. Also, Jude Okoye, Psquare’s elder brother received the award for ‘Best Music Video,’ beating tough competition from Clarence Peters.

The biggest award of the night ‘Artiste of the Year’ went to EME signee Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun. The 22-year-old, who was the third and final act to walk away with two awards was also awarded the ‘Revelation of the Year’ award.

Wande Coal and Tiwa Savage of the MAVIN Records crew picked up awards for ‘Best Vocal Performance’ in both male and female categories – with Wande Coal’s ‘Private trips’ and Tiwa Savage’s ‘Love me 3x’.

The ‘Next Rated’ award which comes with the special prize of a Hyundai Sonata was won by  DavidO.

Highlights of the show were the live band performances from Bez and Praiz, who rendered their duet ‘Stupid song‘, Timi Dakolo who gripped the audience with his ‘Great nation’ song, and surprisingly rookies Burna Boy and Dammy Krane.

Winners of the Headies Rockie competition, Burna Boy and Dammy Krane performed also thrilled the audience with their performance.

The so much talked about “Stupid Song” by Bez ft Praiz got the audience excited.

Other performances were from Omo Baba Olowo also known as DavidO, Timi Dakolo , Chuddy K and Brymo.

The Headies brought together all the Nigerian musicians in the 80s and 90s as a way of reunion and letting them know the impact they have made in the music industry and the traces they have left behind.

These include Onyeka Owenu, Oris Wiliki, Mike Okori, Baba Fryo, Sir Shina Peters, Fatai Rolling Dollar, Daddy Showkey and many more.

Verve card gave an opportunity to the audience to win the verve surprise winner gift through a raffle draw. The lucky winner got the star prize of N500, 000.

Nominees and winners absent at the event included the winner of the Best Album of the year, P Square, winner of the Best RnB single May D, D’Banj, Mavin Crew, Wizkid, Ice-Prince and African Artiste of the year Sarkodie.

50 cent in his latest reaction to Kanye West’s new song, ‘Perfect Bitch’ explained that it is about Kardashian. The rapper panned Kanye’s choice for dating Kim and called his girlfriend a “trash”.

As if it was all, the 37-years -old Rapper also said if Kanye feels Kim is perfect, then she’s perfect. Funny enough, everybody will end up singing the words because he’s Kanye.

50 cent believed that Tim could only be perfect in Kanye’s eyes because a person beautiful for one maybe considered as ugly as another.

Dento, popular Yoruba actor is dead

Though, the Association of Nigerian Theater Arts Practitioner (ANTP),  are yet to release a statement as regards the death of the popular Yoruba actor, but Core entertainment gathered that the thespian who was popularly called Dento, died on Monday 6 August 2012 after months of serious stroke.

Hammed Odunla (Dento) would be buried today according to Muslim rites. He is from Oyo State and has been in the industry for decades.

Few months ago, a prayer session was held by Pastor Wole Oladiyun of Christ Living Apostolic Ministry (CLAM) to prevent sudden death among entertainers and the event was attended by big names of the industry including D’banj and Mercy Aigbe.

There has been no plans of reunion in recent times by Kelly Rowland and her former Destiny’s Child groupmates in Beyonce and Michelle Williams. The group  went  solo in 2005 and are enjoying their careers individually.

They are still best of friends and that doesn’t spell instant reunion but Beyonce’s Dad, Mathew Knowles, who is also their manager, revealed plans to issue some rare Destiny’s Child music in future. On this development, Rowland has reacted that doesn’t mean there will be a reunion.

KR also reacted that the greatest gift of Destiny’s Child was that they had good times together, which is the most important thing.

“We don’t want to scratch each other’s eyes out; we love each other too much. If it’s something that we would want to do, you know (we would do it) but in the meantime we’re just enjoying each other’s friendship.”

Lekki Wives is part of  a larger project known as Naija Wives. Naija Wives aims to mirror the lives of new Nigerian women across various classes. It is made up of three seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, with Lekki Wives being the first season.

The event was a double as they also had the video premier of ‘Oyoyo’ which was directed by Patrick Ellis, written and produced by Paul Play Dairo.

Speed-jet rising pop singer Wizkid Ayo Balogun was announced winner at the BET Awards which took place Sunday 1stJuly 2012. Wizzy won the Best International act (Africa) beating Camp Mulla (Kenya), Ice Prince, Lira (South Africa) and Mokobe (Mali).

Alongside Sarkodie of Ghana, Wizzy received the joint award prize. Congrats homeboy!

Actor Jim Iyke Wins the Alleged N15m Scam Court Case

We earlier reported about this case where star actor Jim Iyke was charged to court over a N15m scam and he supposedly caused drama in court. If you missed that, catch up WITH THE STORY HERE

Now, it is reported that the ATTITUDE filled Jim has won the case against Habiba Abubakar. According to a representative of the actor, the case was thrown out (throway) by the court for lack of evidence.
With this, the case has now been officially closed.

Habiba had brought the case to the court against Jim Iyke in 2011 for an alleged 15million naira fraudulent activity by the actor. However there was rumour few months ago that Jim Iyke was reported to have begged that the case be settled out of court.
The actor is also reported to be in Brazil for studies. He was recently listed by the United Nations to help pick six children to receive quality education in the US. He also penned a multi million naira deal in The Gambia some weeks ago.
Well, if you say good things are happening to Jim, you are right!!

Curtis Jackson popularly known as 50cent, was involved in a car accident early this morning, 26 June, 2012. According to report, the Rapper was immediately hospitalized at the Queens Hospital in New York where he was treated for minor neck and back injuries.

It was reported that there is a possible injuries to his neck and back in a frightening car crash involving his SUV and a Mack truck. According to Thisis50.com, “it all went down early Tuesday morning on the long Island Expressway in New York City, when a red mack truck rear-ended 50’s ride… and the rapper’s SUV almost flipped over”.

50 Cent’s  driver was reported to have lost control of the massive vehicle while driving on Long Island Expressway. However, reports say he has been released and he’s doing very fine.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Omosexy visited  Tanzania, Sunday June 24, where she was received at Julius Nyerere Airport by Tanzanian celebrity, Wema Sepetu.

Our dear sexy actress was received amidst warm welcome with dancing and shouts of Karibu Sana Omosexy (very welcome Omosexy).

She however didn't fail to do some humanitarian work as she visited  an orphanage run by Tanzania Mitindo House for HIV infected children. She also had a lunch at the home of  Wema Sepetu with children from the orphanage. Thereafter left for the Giraffe Hotel to attend the launching of Wema Sepetu’s movie, Superstar.
